This is a great tutorial on how to make a paper hat and boat. To make a Paper Hat follow these steps: Take one large newspaper sheet that consists of two pages on each side. Fold in half lengthwise (the way it comes in the newspaper). Fold in half again (bringing the top of the paper to the bottom). Fold corners (on folded side) to middle. This will make a pointed top to paper. Fold one piece of bottom of paper up to the bottom of the pointed fold. Fold bottom again until it overlaps a little of the pointed part. Turn hat over. Fold sides in about 1 1/2 to 2 inches (it will look like a house). For an adult-sized head, fold in only an inch or so - these folds determine the hat size. Fold bottom up twice. Pull opening in hat apart to make a hat shape. To make a Paper boat follow this Step. 1. First pull out your sheet of copy paper and put it on the table where it is sitting long ways. Then fold it in half up and down. 2. Now fold it in half again to crease it and then unfold it. Now fold the top two corners down to the center line like your folding a paper airplane. 3. Now fold the bottom edges up like you would on the last fold of a paper hat. Now you have a paper hat and you need to turn it into a paper boat. 4. Fold the bottom corners in, lapping them over each other, making a triangle. 5. Now grab your sheet of paper and hold it by the inside with your thumbs then extend your thumbs and press down on your paper to make a square. 6. Hold it with the flaps facing down and fold the corners up to meet the top point. Then flip it over and do the same thing. Now it should look like a triangle again. 7. Next grab the inside of the triangle, extend your thumbs, and press down just like you did before on step 5 8. At the top there should be two triangles that make the one square. Pull the triangles gently apart. 9. Now your paper boat is finished and ready to float
